Important news in the global beauty and skin care Industry

Technology meets Beauty

Innovation will never take a break, will it? We have heard of variations and types of beauty, yes. But this time it's technology with beauty. LED face masks. LED light therapy is where the skin is exposed to different wavelengths of light (including red, near-infrared and blue) that penetrate deep beneath its surface.

Unlike UV light, these rays are actually good for the skin, but their benefits depend on the shade of light emitted by the device, which should be chosen based on skin concern. From reducing acne and inflammation to slowing down the signs of aging, It shows great promise for healing and treating wounds.

Reflecting Rajasthan with Hermès

The house of colors, design, and creativity. The believer of taking inspiration from its storied past and not the trends. Which is synonymous with art has made its way to India, and this time with Beauty. With Rouge (Red) Hermès, featuring 24 shades of lipsticks in vibrant.

All assembled by hand, in true Hermes style these are designed to make a statement, and also to last (with refillable bullets). Taking inspiration from the color emblematic of the Fantaisies Indiennes scarf, recalling the water colored paintings of Rajasthan.

The brand who believes in longevity over changing trends, has promised its beauty to be a reflection of how we feel. Because the better we do, the more radiant we look.

Where beauty meets AI and AR

With the innovative beauty tech solutions, brands are rethinking experiential shopping for the post-pandemic world through contactless, virtual try-ons that rival physical ones. The introduction of Artificial Intelligence and Augmented Reality technology to the beauty industry has modernized the capabilities of beauty brands.

Augmented Reality (AR) is the modification of a real-life environment through digital features such as visual, audio or other sensory elements. Artificial Intelligence (AI) enhances this technology by offering a more in-depth and complex manipulation of an environment in this virtual space. It is a sustainable alternative to traditional product testers.

No7

No7 introduced its new shade matching AI and AR experience.

The experience launches with an algorithm-based questionnaire that diagnoses customer’s personal skin needs, foundation preferences and lifestyle concerns that could impact skin to provide a No7 foundation range match.

Estée Lauder

Estée Lauder has utilized AI and AR technology to launch personalized virtual try-on makeup solutions. Powered by Perfect Corp, the beauty brand uses this technology to offer customers an AI driven, AR experience of trying on its makeup products in-store or online.

Yves Saint Laurent (YSL)

Technology is also driving increased amounts of personalization elsewhere in the YSL’s product offering. Rouge Sur Mesure is a device which uses color cartridge sets from YSL’s red, nude, orange and fuchsia color ranges.

Created by L’Oréal’s Augmented Beauty Team utilizing Perso technology, customers can create thousands of bespoke lipstick shades with a single touch at home, using color match technology enabled by their smartphones and AI.

Through this consumers purchase items that they won't have to throw away because they know they are suited to them.

Influence of Kbeauty

As the hallyu wave sweeps the world with its dramas and music, its innovative skincare and makeup is also gaining popularity. With their knowledge of skincare and beauty their products are made with the highest quality. K-beauty has an extensive range of products allowing customers to mix and match and build their personalized skin care routine. The 10 step skin care routine is becoming popular to achieve glass skin, used in the Korean beauty world to refer to a smooth, clear, and hydrated complexion that appears almost transparent.

Rare beauty in India

Rare Beauty products finally launched in India earlier this week and the beauty community cannot keep calm—as is evident from the “sold out” status online. Let me reaffirm—it really is that good! Mahek’s Musings...

Luxury beauty is a stepping stone to entering the world of luxury, you may not be able to buy a luxury handbag but you can always own a Chanel Rouge Allure Laque lipstick or a Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation to have something of the brand you love and covet. Initially fragrance used to be the entry point for a brand, but since the last few years it's been taken over by skin care and make up. With prices accessible to younger shoppers, brand new product lines serve as entry points for first-time customers.

Luxury fashion houses including Chanel, Dior, Burberry, Yves Saint Laurent, Armani and Givenchy have long offered makeup and skincare. But the trend has been picked up by their contemporaries with Gucci adding makeup in 2019, Hermès in 2020, and Valentino introducing makeup in 2021.

Prachi Pens..
